Topic: Fertility
Menstruation that starts late (for instance, at 17 years) indicates that the reproductive system has a problem that could lead to infertility.
Sometimes, a lot of anxiety about getting pregnant and general stress only makes conceiving harder.
When you decide to visit a fertility centre, always go with your partner because of the private nature of the questions that will be asked.
Some of the questions you should ask the doctor include: Are my tubes normal? Is my uterus normal? Do I have enough eggs?
Do I ovulate? Is my husband’s sperm normal?
Your monthly period is supposed to signal that you ovulate. However, getting your periods every month does not necessarily mean you are ovulating or that everything is okay.
If the womb is too weak or unable to carry a pregnancy to term, there is the option of surrogacy, where another woman can carry the child.
